I just finished reading this for the first time. Being that Cather herself was a Nebraskan, the novel seems to be especially heralded here. In school, I heard about the novel, but it’s not as if Texas is as proud of “My Antonia” as Nebraska is.
Without this turning into some long-winded ramble, I will simply say that I wish that I had read this sooner, and imagine that I will read it again. Cather’s prose is almost unbearable at times, it is so stunning. The only other person I can recall who has done to me what Cather did, with their words, is Annie Dillard.
If you haven’t, you might give this a go. It’s a wonderful spring/summer read.
Just what I need, a good summer read. I’ll see you soon local bookstore :)

Having a boyfriend that is as indecisive as you are makes date night so difficult. But I wouldn’t have it any other way :)

Both
I overheard the man
whisper
“I am a lover
not a fighter,”
and to myself
I thought,
I,
am in fact,
both.
For is it love
at all
if it’s not worth
fighting
for?

World’s largest rope swing.
Some insane footage out of Moab, Utah where a couple of folks strung up this death wish of a rope swing at the naturally formed Corona Arch. The film was shot over the course of two days by Devin Graham (source)
Two things:
1. Are you fucking kidding me?
2. How do I sign up?
Simply amazing.

Notes from the trail: the final stretch, a long, sweet coast to the finish…Todays road is fraught with danger and despair, the cold, brisk winds push and pull at me without prejudice, forcing my aching muscles to push even harder, bringing with it pain of extraordinary amounts. To ease my suffering, I allow my mind to wander aimlessly through the blue skies, filled with cotton candy in shades no man should taste, I travel through my past and for reasons unknown to me, my childhood frequently jumps to the forefront of my thoughts, memories of kick the can, running around the yard at breakneck speeds with dad and brothers n sister giving chase, yet I don’t recall there ever being a loser, only winners and laughter, and shortness of breath accompanied these games…no money spent here, just the building of fond memories…
I absolutely love my fathers notes from the trails. They always make me smile.

“Don’t Think Twice It’s Alright” a Bob Dylan cover by Ke$ha.
I love that you can hear her crying.
Surprisingly, a great cover.
